A new book by interior designer and home decorator Kavita Krishnan, What You See is What You Get, takes the conventional approach to home decor and makes it personal, inspiring you to create a home you love and care about.
The book is packed with inspirational tips and inspiration, including the idea of an “I-want-it-to-be” home that will truly transform your life.
The author says the “I want to make it my own,” as well as the “the most personal and unique home I can possibly imagine.”
The book’s title refers to the “it” part of a house, the part that really makes you feel, the “you” part, and the “home.”
The idea is to take a look inside the house and be as close to the living space as possible.
“The more we think about a place, the more we want to see it,” Krishnan told ABC News.
“And when you do that, you will get the most authentic and personal feeling.”
“The most authentic house I can imagine is a home with a fireplace, a wood stove, and a big, open space,” Krishna says in the book.
“I’m not saying it’s going to be perfect, but it’s what I imagine.
I want you to be the most authentically you could possibly be.”
She also recommends: “Doing something about the decor.”
“You can’t make something in a day.
It has to be done,” Krishnam said.
“If you don’t know what to do, then it’s just going to look terrible.
It’s the opposite of a great house.”
The best part about the book is that it’s designed for anyone, anywhere, and all the time.
There are multiple images in the back of the book, with different topics and themes.
In the book’s introduction, Krishnan explains, “What we are doing is building a home.
It is not about the house.
It may be a house but it is not a home.”
She adds, “When I tell people, ‘This is the home of my dreams,’ that’s the hardest thing for them to understand.”
Krishnan, who grew up in New York City, moved to Indianapolis when she was 18.
She has lived in more than 50 homes and has done design and interior design work.
The idea for the book came after a year-long trip to India.
She wanted to build her own home and found a home for herself.
“I am the first person to ever design a home and then I went to India and I did my own design,” she said.
Krishna says her home, like many others, will become more and more personal as she grows.
She encourages people to build a home from the inside out.
“It is about taking a look at the design, the materials, the construction, the floor plan and then being able to see the home through it.
You can’t put a house in a box,” she says.
“You have to put it together from the ground up.
It becomes your home.””
I love to tell people that my home is like the ultimate home,” she adds.
“This is not my home.”
